Work of prestigious provenance, coming directly from the Cosattini Family of Udine: it was owned by the lawyer Giovanni Cosattini (1878–1954), a socialist deputy, friend of Giacomo Matteotti, opponent of Fascism, mayor of the Liberation, and finally Senator of the Republic. His five children (two sons and three daughters), born from his marriage to Renza Cuoghi, were each protagonists of remarkable stories. The eldest son, Luigi, a professor of civil law, was among the founders of the Action Party in Veneto; deported to Buchenwald, he died in Germany during a tragic escape attempt. The other son, Alberto, a lawyer and also an Action Party militant, became Ferruccio Parri's right-hand man in Milan during the crucial 1944–45 period, and later his private secretary during the first post-Liberation government. The three daughters married prominent figures of the anti-fascist movement: Emilia married Gustavo Volterra, an executive at RAS and son of the mathematician Vito Volterra—one of the very few university professors who, in 1931, refused the oath of allegiance imposed by the regime; Giovanna wed the Turinese engineer Enrico Carrara, son of Professor Mario Carrara (Lombroso’s son-in-law), another 'non-swearing' professor; finally, Emma was the wife of Giovanni Enriques, an Olivetti executive active in the Resistance (cf. Sandro Gerbi, I Cosattini. Una famiglia antifascista di Udine, Milan, Hoepli, 2016)."

This work belongs to the most authentic and representative thematic core of Enrico Ursella's artistic production. The painting depicts an agricultural landscape brought to life by figures of peasants intent on their work—a subject in which the artist expressed his vision of the rural world with the greatest intensity, a world he knew intimately, being himself the son of farmers from Buja. Created around 1930, the painting belongs to the artist's period of full maturity, when his style—refined under the guidance of Ettore Tito at the Venice Academy and later in advanced courses in Rome—reached a balance between fidelity to truth and a typically Friulian color sensitivity. The choice of panel as a support gives the work a compact textural quality, which enhances the solidity of the figures and the controlled luminosity of the landscape

Among the rare Venetian views in Fred Pittino's artistic production, this 1952 oil on canvas holds a prominent place, both for its outstanding pictorial quality and its exceptional rarity within the artist's catalog, which traditionally focused on still lifes and Friulian landscapes. The early 1950s represent a significant period in Pittino's career, blending the plastic solidity developed during the 1930s in Milan within the Galleria del Milione circle with the teachings of Cézanne and an increasingly refined, vibrant color sensitivity. The composition opens onto the Molo, brought to life by boats that punctuate the foreground with a serene rhythm. In the background, the imposing mass of the Basilica of Redentore sull'isola della Giudecca stands out among the Venetian houses, immersed in that suspended atmosphere that is the unmistakable signature of the lagoon. A style of painting defined by an 'immediate lyrical effusion,' capable of turning light into the very substance of color. The work comes from a prestigious private collection, providing a further guarantee of the painting's authenticity and quality.

Small color loss at lower right. Among all the subjects explored throughout his career, snow remains the theme for which the Master is most celebrated: his 'snowscapes' are not mere winter landscapes, but true exercises in light—explorations of the white medium in its vast variety of tones, reflections, and silences. The work depicts Valbruna, a place deeply cherished by Pellis and the setting for a part of his life, enveloped in the winter mantle of the Alps. The large dimensions of the canvas (97x127 cm) lend a monumental and almost immersive presence to the composition: the viewer is invited to step into that landscape, to perceive its rarefied air and the muffled silence of fresh snow. The chromatic quality is of extraordinary refinement—the whites unfold into a spectrum of cold and warm shades, brought to life by bluish reflections and flashes of golden light that reveal direct observation. This painting is to be considered a masterpiece of 20th-century Friulian art and represents, at the same time, the document of a visceral bond between the artist and his homeland.

The work was exhibited in 2014 at the Pinacoteca De Cillia in Treppo Carnico as part of the retrospective 'Silence, Scents and Colors of My Land', and in Tolmezzo at Palazzo Frisacco for his final solo exhibition. An unpublished work, created during the artist's mature years. Her beloved Carnia is once again the main protagonist. 'Corbellini's painting, undoubtedly one of the finest figurative expressions of 20th-century Friulian art, remains as contemporary and sought-after as ever, a few years after her passing. Her works are always fresh and refined, characterized by a confident stroke and color applied with graceful, flawless mastery. In her canvases—where the poetry is dedicated to Carnia, a land so dear to her and the inspiration for a "fairy tale"—the atmospheric impact becomes crucial, even fundamental, because it reflects a serene, almost mystical state of mind.' These words were recently written by art critic Paolo Pugnetti, a native of Tolmezzo like the artist herself. He is a profound connoisseur of her painting and, above all, an interpreter of her personality: a woman open to culture, yet at the same time very shy and reserved, especially regarding her work, and uniquely distanced from any form of self-promotion or pursuit of followers.

Provenance: The Heirs. An extremely rare work by Titta Gori. Born in Nimis, he is renowned for having painted and frescoed numerous churches throughout Friuli between the late 19th century and around 1930. In 1889, Gori painted the Holy Family, an altarpiece for the church of Madonna delle Pianelle in Nimis. This was followed by the Pentecost, a canvas for the small church of Chiusini in Arta Terme; in 1894, he frescoed the church of Monteprato with the Exaltation of the Cross, the Ascension, and the Four Evangelists. In 1897, he undertook his most demanding pictorial cycle: the frescoes for the church of Ss. Gervasio e Protasio in Nimis. In 1911, he decorated the church of S. Stefano in Centa in Nimis with the apotheosis of Catholic Church dogmas and hosts of Angels. Among his many notable works, we also mention the paintings and frescoes for the Archbishop's Seminary in Udine (1911–1912); the parish churches of Villalta, Racchiuso, Ravosa, and Savorgnano (1913); the chapel of the psychiatric hospital in Udine; the parish churches of Ciconicco di Fagagna, Cergneu, Farla di Maiano, and Monteaperta di Taipana (1927); the parish church of Collerumiz (1930); and the Capuchin church in Udine (1932)."
