On wooden support—a choice Coceani favored for the solidity of the background and the color rendering—the Friulian artist created this still life composition in 1973. The wealth of elements demonstrates a particularly ambitious compositional effort, where the Veneto-Friulian still life tradition dialogues with the chromatic and atmospheric influences the artist had developed during his long training between Florence, Rome, and Venice. The painting, in good condition, comes from an important family from Friuli Venezia Giulia."

Rare 1937 work by Coceani. Work of prestigious provenance, coming directly from the Cosattini Family of Udine: it was owned by the lawyer Giovanni Cosattini (1878–1954), a socialist deputy, friend of Giacomo Matteotti, opponent of Fascism, mayor of the Liberation, and finally Senator of the Republic. His five children (two sons and three daughters), born from his marriage to Renza Cuoghi, were each protagonists of remarkable stories. The eldest son, Luigi, a professor of civil law, was among the founders of the Action Party in Veneto; deported to Buchenwald, he died in Germany during a tragic escape attempt. The other son, Alberto, a lawyer and also an Action Party militant, became Ferruccio Parri's right-hand man in Milan during the crucial 1944–45 period, and later his private secretary during the first post-Liberation government. The three daughters married prominent figures of the anti-fascist movement: Emilia married Gustavo Volterra, an executive at RAS and son of the mathematician Vito Volterra—one of the very few university professors who, in 1931, refused the oath of allegiance imposed by the regime; Giovanna wed the Turinese engineer Enrico Carrara, son of Professor Mario Carrara (Lombroso’s son-in-law), another 'non-swearing' professor; finally, Emma was the wife of Giovanni Enriques, an Olivetti executive active in the Resistance (cf. Sandro Gerbi, I Cosattini. Una famiglia antifascista di Udine, Milan, Hoepli, 2016)."

Typical landscape of the Bassa Friulana (Lower Friulian Plain). Biagio Marin wrote in this regard: "A painter faithful to his land and his art, a dreamer and poet. Hence his love for vaporous landscapes, with their gray skies and autumnal browning, and the moving intimacy with which they are treated." This high-profile work fits perfectly into this context, and what attracts the master, according to Arturo Manzano, is the opulence of the autumnal colors that bid farewell to the beautiful season. This work, exhibited several times in solo and group exhibitions, is published full-page, in color, in the complete works edited by Paolo Pugnetti. From a private collection in Tolmezzo. Work accompanied by catalog.
