La fienagione

Lot: 1

Framed

For the painter from Ampezzo, the Carnic Alps were a familiar place with which he had established a serene and harmonious relationship. His paintings feature primarily the mountainous landscape, its ancient houses, and the rural farming practices of its people. This exquisite work fits perfectly into this context. In 1927, he participated with this painting in the "Landscape Art Exhibition" in Bologna and in 1929 in the "Mountain Art Exhibition" in Milan. In the typically Carnic landscape, the figure of the peasant woman is striking, symbolizing the work and toil of women in Carnia. The colors of her blue apron, with her white blouse, seem to materialize a shimmering ray that runs throughout the work, as Licio Damiani recalls. Formerly part of the collection of art critic and historian Tiziano Dalla Marta, it is now owned by a collector from Udine.

Val Saisera

Lot: 4

Framed

A work of remarkable quality, executed by the painter in her later years, which once again highlights one of the many scenes of her Carnia: the shepherds' huts under the snow. Exhibited in the retrospective "Silences, Scents, and Colors of My Land" at the Pinacoteca De Cillia in Treppo in 2014. Exhibited in the solo exhibition entitled "Refinement of the Graphic Sign,” at Palazzo Frisacco in Tolmezzo, still in 2014, The work was also featured in the video that accompanied the 2023 exhibition "The Painting of the Soul," a work that encapsulates her motto, "I love this Carnia of ours, I learned to love it through painting. Look and discover it for yourselves." Formerly in the artist's private collection.

Paesaggio sotto la neve

Lot: 5

Framed

The work was exhibited at Ca' Pesaro in Venice in 1910 and 1911. It has had several solo and group exhibitions over time. This work successfully sums up the artistic journey of the Carnia painter. The composition focuses on the female figure in the background, animated by the contrast between the white snow and the brown houses, through which the warm glow of the "fogolar" fire can be glimpsed, all surrounded by the blue mountains and a cloud-filled sky in the background. In this work D'Avanzo finds the most salient aspects of his beloved Carnia. From a well-known collector. Period label "Stabilimento Tipografico Carnia, Tolmezzo" on the back.

Paesaggio alpino in primavera con la neve

Art historian Dalla Marta, his dear friend and a profound connoisseur of his painting, wrote in 1998, on the occasion of the 75th Congress of the Friulian Philological Society, entitled "TUMIEC": "The widespread and frequent presence of Arturo Cussigh's works takes on the meaning of an imperative communication, a profession of faith with civil and moral significance, for his fidelity to the cultural values of tradition and the environment. This fidelity and authentic vocation are accompanied by the recognition of official criticism." "Cussigh, chromatic strength and light: and Carnia comes to life on canvas" was the headline in the Messaggero Veneto in 1989 on the occasion of the retrospective exhibition at Palazzo Frisacco in Tolmezzo.

Tramonto (Valdolce-Cason di Lanza)

Lot: 13

Framed

A work that sums up his ego: “I found so much beauty in Carnia as nowhere else,” and “I have always painted with sincerity, seeking harmony, sweetness, poetry.” This delicate and precious work fully embodies these statements. The work was exhibited, among other places, at the contemporary art exhibition “The Magic of Color” at the “Ottagono Arte” Gallery in Florence in November 2000. Then, still in November 2000, at the group exhibition “Sguardi d’autore” at the “Lazzaro by Corsi” Gallery in Milan. The painting has been featured several times in numerous solo exhibitions held in Tolmezzo, his hometown. Formerly part of the artist’s private collection, it is now owned by a collector from Udine.

Inverno

Lot: 15

Framed

Typical landscape of the Bassa Friulana (Lower Friulian Plain). Biagio Marin wrote in this regard: "A painter faithful to his land and his art, a dreamer and poet. Hence his love for vaporous landscapes, with their gray skies and autumnal browning, and the moving intimacy with which they are treated." This high-profile work fits perfectly into this context, and what attracts the master, according to Arturo Manzano, is the opulence of the autumnal colors that bid farewell to the beautiful season. This work, exhibited several times in solo and group exhibitions, is published full-page, in color, in the complete works edited by Paolo Pugnetti. From a private collection in Tolmezzo. Work accompanied by catalog.

Certificate of authenticity by artist's grandson Giuseppe Zuccheri

Stamp "Work by Maestro Zuccheri, Inventory 1980" on the reverse. Luigi Zuccheri's works have seen a marked increase in interest, with requests arriving not only from our region but from throughout Italy and abroad, particularly from the United States, Switzerland, Norway, and Central Europe. This has been accompanied by a significant increase in the prices of his works. The reasons are to be found in a series of highly sought-after exhibitions recently held by international institutions and galleries. Among these are the artist's presence at the Fondation Vincent Van Gogh in Arles, France, and Nature Humaine – Humane Nature, in two exhibitions, in 2023 and 2024; recent solo exhibitions at the Karma Gallery in Los Angeles and New York; at the Standard Oslo Gallery in Norway in 2023; and at the Sylvia Kouvali Gallery in Athens and London last year; as well as his participation in leading international art events such as Frieze Los Angeles, February 29 – May 3, 2024, and Art Basel, June 13 – 16, 2024.
